Horeca (or Ho.Re.Ca.) is a commercial term that refers to the hotel industry sector. It is the acronym for hotellerie-restaurant-café (hotel, restaurant and bar), but the third word is sometimes identified with catering, or other similar terms.
The term Horeca is used to indicate the distribution of a product at hotels, restaurants, trattorias, pizzerias, bars and similar, catering. In practice, the Horeca channel is represented by those who, by profession, supply food and drinks, while that of large-scale retail trade (GDO) or shops is related to those who sell food and drinks. The majority of the subjects in the Horeca world are small or micro businesses.
International frozen food or beverage companies, or even tobacco (for example British American Tobacco), use the term Horeca to define the commercial channel of beverages and catering, or the hotel commercial channel.
