Choosing the right marker depends on the type of paper and the desired technique.

School and Children's Markers

Ideal for school and leisure, these markers use water-based inks that are safe and easily washable from hands and clothes. They often feature sturdy, non-returnable tips to withstand pressure.

Professional Alcohol Markers

Used by cartoonists, illustrators, and designers for manga and sketches. The alcohol-based ink dries instantly and allows for layering colors and creating perfect blends without wetting or warping the paper (if using specific "layout" or "marker" paper). Many models offer dual tips (chisel and fine, or brush).

Water-Based and Watercolor Markers

Featured with high-quality, water-soluble inks. Models with a flexible tip (brush pen) or fiber tip allow you to blend the stroke with a brush dipped in water, achieving an effect similar to watercolor painting. They are ideal for calligraphy, lettering, and bullet journaling.

Acrylic and Specialty Markers

Acrylic markers (such as the famous Posca) contain a pigmented, opaque ink that allows you to write on almost any surface: wood, glass, plastic, metal, and stone. There are also specific versions for fabrics that are machine washable.
